Dr.Anil Kashyap

Director General, GREMI

BIO

Dr. Anil Kashyap (PhD) is presently leading the education initiative of Mahamati Skill and Education Foundation for the setting up of Ganesh Real Estate Management Institute (GREMI), to fill the skills gap particularly in the domain of real estate development in India. Dr. Kashyap is Chairman Nominee of the Internal Monitoring cum Advisory Committee (IMAC) for the Centre of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design (CoEUD) at SPA Delhi, Trustee of the RASTA Trust, and on the Board of FESTRA Foundation working towards sustainable communities. Dr. Anil Kashyap was appointed DG of NICMAR in July 2021 and the first President and Chancellor of NICMAR University Pune in June 2022. Under his leadership, NICMAR transformed into two degree-awarding universities — Pune and Hyderabad — and one autonomous institute in Delhi and launched NICMAR Online — a digital education vertical — apart from a number of new initiatives.

Prior to this, Dr. Kashyap held senior academic leadership roles in several large universities in the United Kingdom before moving back to India in September 2021. He has been a Chartered Member of RICS, a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute London, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom, and a Fellow of the Institute of Town Planners, India. Dr. Kashyap has over 30 years of experience in practice, academia, and research — both in India and abroad — and his expertise includes infrastructure development and finance, urban regeneration, and real estate research.

Dr. Kashyap holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with distinction from NIT Kurukshetra. He was conferred Distinguished Alumnus of NIT Kurukshetra in 2023 for his contribution to higher education and public service. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from SPA New Delhi and a PhD from Ulster University, United Kingdom. Dr. Kashyap received training in Higher Education Leadership and Change Management at Harvard University.

Dr. Kashyap is a creative, lateral thinker, strategic policy developer, and change agent with an international outlook; an able administrator, visionary leader with a sense of mission and a passion for excellence in higher education globally; and a pleasant, motivating team player who optimizes the abilities of those around him. With his excellent communication skills, he regularly addresses large audiences and can communicate and effectively interact with individuals at all levels. His endeavor for higher education in India is to transform built environment education to fill the infrastructure-skilled professional gap for meeting the grand vision of the national government and its development initiatives.
